Afro Haitian Dance with Nadia Dieudonné
Sundays at 12noon Nadia Dieudonné is a talented choreographer, dancer and teacher who began dancing at an early age. By the age of 12 Nadia was performing with well known Haitian folk singer and activist Mrs. Myriam Dorismé. Nadia’s innate talent as an Afro-Haitian dancer grew stronger in 1990, as she began to travel back to her homeland to research and study the origins, purposes of Haitian dance and its connections to Africa. Today, after more than 15 years of dancing and performing, Nadia is known as the best Banda dancer outside of Haiti.
Fatima Friday Cardio Dance fusion
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I'd started dancing when I was about seven years old. Most of my training originates in West African Dance and Hip Hop at the Deeper Light Institute of African Dance and Drumming. I became a fitness instructor and choreographer my freshman year at Texas A&M University and have since been teaching professionally for almost eight years. I've also trained in Jazz and Modern Dance. I've also orchestrated and choreographed talent shows for the high school students I'd taught for two years at the Erasmus Campus: Academy for College Preparation and Career Exploration. Infusing dynamic energy, passion for movement and for eclectic musical rhythms inspires me to choreograph versatile compositions that incorporate all dance genres. Essentially, healing through movement is the foundation that has taught me how to visualize, cultivate and manifest fluidity, dynamic energy and purpose as a dancer as well as a dance instructor.
